The chapel will be the future home of First Presbyterian Church of Battle Ground, a congregation in the Presbyterian Church in America, which has served Clark County since its founding in 1992. 

Communities, businesses, and nonprofits need conference space for meetings, dinners, conferences and special events. Conference space attracts positive economic activity to the community and facilitates collaboration, networking, education, hospitality, and community life.

The chapel will seat approximately 500 people, and the conference center will be capable of accommodating more than 600 in a banquet-table seating configuration, as well as hosting events of various sizes depending on the configuration.

The space will be among the top conference venues in Clark County, and the largest in the Battle Ground area. 

No. This project is 100% privately funded and has not sought or received any property tax incentives, abatements or exemptions.

No. Church buildings and associated activities, auditoriums, civic (event) centers, and similar uses are allowed uses in this zone according to Battle Ground Code 17.120.

Approximately two-tenths of an acre of the property required wetland mitigation with the Department of Ecology. All environmental and ecological impacts were thoroughly reviewed and the project will comply with all applicable regulations and requirements.

Local businessmen, Camden and Mac Spiller. The Spiller family is raising the sixth generation of their family here in Clark County and are passionate about making this an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. The Spiller family also owns Maddox Industrial Transformer, the Battle Ground Hospitality Collective, and The Reflector newspaper.

It is very important to the project sponsors to prioritize local investment, and to that end, the Spiller family is pleased to be working with General Contractor, Tapani, Inc. (www.tapani.com). The project has been architecturally designed by SHM Architects (www.shmarchitects.com). Many other local and regional subcontractors and trades have been, or will be, involved in this project through its construction.

This project will create a significant positive local economic impact, both directly and indirectly. In addition to creating significant construction revenues, and property tax income for local jurisdictions, this project is expected to create a minimum of 15 full-time jobs and more than 30 part-time jobs. Additionally, the conference center is expected to draw many visitors and guests to the area which indirectly supports many other local businesses.

The project sponsors, the Spiller family, recognized the need for both conference space and a permanent home for their family’s church, First Presbyterian Church of Battle Ground. There are synergies between the two, such as sharing parking, efficiently utilizing limited available land and utilizing both properties for certain events and activities.
